Wallpaper Calculator

STEP 1 :

Measure every surface of the wall in question: Width (W) x Height (H)

Example :    121" (W) x 96" (H)
  48½" (W) x 96" (H)
  82" (W) x 24" (H)
  And so on…

Stairwell Calculator

A. Divide the stairwell into 2 areas, from midway up the staircase.
B. Measure the right area:

Example :    60"(W) x 200" (highest point)

  Now measure the left area:
  60" (W) x 148" (H)

Window & Door Frame Calculator

Example :    If the area is standard size:

  Example: Door | 30" (W) x 80" (H) + Window 48" (W) x 48" (H): No worries, include them in your measurements.

Example :    Doors to a double closet 60" (W) x 80" (H) + Window larger than 48" (W) x 48" (H): deduct

one aperture out of two ‒ preferably the doors. Remember to measure the wall area above the doors, as well as above and below the window.
STEP 2 :

Conversion Chart | Inches To Square Feet

Example :    121" (W) x 96" (H) = 11,616 sq. ft
  48" (W) x 96" (H) =   4 656 sq. ft
  82" (W) x 24" (H) =   1 968 sq. ft

  Total: 18,240 sq. ft

Your total = 18,240 sq. ft. Now divide 18,240 by 144 (the number to convert square inches to square feet) = 126.66 square feet. Now round it off to: 127 square feet.

STEP 3 :

Wallpaper Calculator

In most cases, wallpaper is packaged and sold by double rolls but there are always exceptions.
It is likely mentioned on the roll.

Check the length of the double roll and its width, and pattern repetitions too.

Most wallpapers are:

20½" (W) x 33' (L)
     0" ‒ 10" patterns: 1 double roll covers about 54 sq. ft
     10" ‒ 25½" patterns: 1 double roll covers about 50 sq. ft
OR
27" (W) x 27’ (L)
      0" ‒ 10" patterns: 1 double roll covers about 60 sq.ft
     10" ‒ 25½" patterns: 1 double roll covers about 56 sq. ft

There are also 36" and 54" canvas, straw and other wallpapers that are sold by the yard, in 9-yard or 11-yard increments, so check carefully.

Take the area you wish to paper (in square feet), and divide it by the number of square feet covered by the wallpaper you have selected.

Example :    129 sq. ft ÷ 50 sq. ft = 2.58. Now round it off: you’ll need 3 double rolls.

If the wallpaper is sold by the yard:
Measure the width of the walls you wish to paper, and divide it by the width of your roll.

Example :    440" (wall width) ÷ 36" (wallpaper width) = 12.22. Now round it off: 13 or the number of sheets required to paper your wall.
Take the number of sheets and multiply it by your wall height (H).
If you’ve chosen a patterned paper, add the height of your pattern to your wall height.

Example:     96" (wall height) + 16" (wallpaper pattern height) = 112" (H)
Calcul : 13 sheet (W) x 112" (H) = 1,456"
Then: 1,456" ÷ 36" (the number to convert into yards) = 40.44 yards.
Now round it off: 41 yards
Now calculate your cost: 41 yards x $39.95/yard = $1,637.95
If the wallpaper is only sold in multiples (i.e: in 9-yd rolls), then take the number of yards (41 yards) and divide it by the multiple in question

Example :    41 yards ÷ 9 = 4.5. Now round it off: 5 rolls.
How much? 5 rolls x $150.00/roll = $750.00

Now your wallpaper calculations are complete.

Wallpaper Borders

They are usually sold in 15-foot rolls. To figure out how many rolls of wallpaper border are needed, measure the surface you’d like to paper ‒ preferably in feet ‒ and divide that number by 15 feet.

Example :    72 ft ÷ 15 ft = 4.8. Now round it off: 5
How much? 5 rolls x $39.95 ea. = $199.75
